This is our new, automatic robotized line installed at the Cornol production facility.
The first parts will be spat out in January 2024. We are all looking forward to this new performance in the production. You will learn more about our milestone in robotization next year.

We warmly congratulate them for their commitment, dedication and the considerable efforts they have made to obtain these valuable qualifications. We would also like to express our gratitude to our trainers and collaborators who played a key role in the training and supervision of our apprentice and our collaborator. Together, we will continue to advance and train new generations of professionals.

Nichée tout au bout du Val d’Hérens (VS), l’usine de pompage d’Arolla est un élément essentiel du complexe hydro-électrique de la Grande Dixence. Elle achemine toute l’eau récoltée par le barrage de Ferpècle ainsi que par des prises d’eau implantées dans le Val d’Arolla jusque dans le lac des Dix, retenu par l’immense muraille du barrage de la Grande Dixence.

Et ce matin-là, les employés de l’usine ont fort à faire. « Nous procédons à une maintenance importante sur un de nos trois groupes de pompage », explique Nicolas Bournissen, chef d’équipe. Le moteur de la pompe, avec un rotor de treize tonnes, a été démonté. Le rotor du puissant moteur vient de revenir de révision. Avant de le remonter, les spécialistes procèdent encore au changement de 48 ailettes d’aluminium destinées à refroidir l’énorme machine électrique.
Une technologie adaptée aux contraintes
Ces ailettes concentrent tout le savoir-faire de Prétat SA, entreprise spécialisée dans le matriçage de métaux non-ferreux. Une technique qui permet, en pressant un morceau de métal chaud dans un moule à deux faces, d’en sortir un objet aux formes complexes. « Contrairement au moulage, le matriçage à partir de barres de métal extrudées garantit aux pièces finales une qualité visuelle et des propriétés mécaniques accrues pour les raisons suivantes : les fibres des pièces issues du procédé de matriçage sont d’une part toutes orientées dans le même sens, et d’autre part la température des pièces étant plus faible que celle issue du procédé de moulage, la structure du métal se voit moins détériorée », explique Alexandre Moscardini, ingénieur responsable développements et méthodes chez Prétat SA.
Précision horlogère
Il est venu voir sur place où allaient être montées « ses » ailettes, dont il a assuré le délicat développement. Car bien qu’elles équipent un moteur de grande puissance, elles sont réalisées avec une précision quasi horlogère, toutes parfaitement usinées, équilibrées et polies. « Leur réalisation a été complexe car toutes ces pièces ont été tracées à 100 % par le biais d’une gravure pour assurer le suivi des nombreux contrôles qu’elles ont subis. D’autre part, l’usinage de pièces issues du procédé de matriçage, possédant de ce fait des dimensions et une géométrie variable, demande un savoir-faire tout particulier », ajoute Alexandre Moscardini. Une à une, les ailettes sont vissées selon un ordre précis et avec un calage angulaire bien déterminé sur le rotor du moteur. Elles viennent remplacer des pièces fabriquées déjà par Prétat SA lors d’une révision antérieure des moteurs il y a de cela une vingtaine d’années. « L’exploitant avait été satisfait de notre travail et nous a demandé de produire à nouveau des ailettes pour les trois groupes de pompage », ajoute Alexandre Moscardini. En outre, la société HYDRO Exploitation SA mandatée par La société Grande Dixence S.A. pour l’exploitation et la maintenance de l’usine souhaitait un fournisseur pouvant garantir un procédé et une qualité de fabrication irréprochable et c’est dans ce cadre-là, après évaluation de plusieurs fournisseurs que le mandat d’acquisition de ces ailettes de ventilation a pu nous être attribué.
L’occasion de se faire connaître
« C’est une grande fierté pour Prétat et pour tout le personnel qui a collaboré à la fabrication de ces ailettes », explique Clément Saulcy, directeur général de Prétat. Il poursuit : « ce genre de marché de niche est important pour nous faire connaître et démontrer notre savoir-faire ». « Relever de tels défis, cela stimule la créativité et l’innovation. C’est exactement dans l’ADN de Prétat, une société qui amène plus qu’un simple produit, mais surtout une solution complète », ajoute Nabil Francis, administrateur délégué du Flisch group à qui appartient Prétat SA. Car le client principal de l’entreprise de Cornol reste FELCO SA, leader mondial du sécateur. Prétat SA produit par matriçage les poignées aluminium des outils FELCO selon des standards de qualité uniques, ce qui leur permet d’être garanties à vie. Un peu comme les ailettes toutes neuves d’Arolla. Une fois montées, elles devraient rester en place et tourner à 1500 tours par minute pendant au moins une bonne vingtaine d’années.
