Hot die forging : Our trade

Precision hot die forging:
Leading edge technology par excellence, precision hot forging consists in deforming hot metal between two matrices. The part thus shapped achieves a level of completion of exceptional quality .

The hot die forging process:
The hot die forging process is a process in which a metal piece, section or roller is heated to a suitable temperature and deformed plastically between a die and a header in which the print of the desired part has been hollowed out.

The base metal always represents an excess volume with respect to the volume of the finished part, forming a bur. This excess metal enhances complete filling of the dies.

Enhancing the mechanical qualities of the metal :
The deformations obtained through the hot die forging process are very great and lead to a refining of the grain, work hardening and stronger linear fibrous structure which improves the mechanical characteristics considerably.

Hot die forging is carried out at high temperature, by creep of metal between the die and header. After heat treatments, for aluminium alloys for example, the initial grain is refined and the mechanical characteristics of the part are improved.
